Dengue situation in state completely under
control: UP Dy CM Pathak
UP Deputy CM
Brajesh Pathak claimed that the dengue situation in the state is under control.
He added that people should wear full-sleeve clothes, use mosquito nets and

female Prime Minister
Giorgia Meloni was
sworn in as Italy's first female Prime Minister at the presidential palace on
Saturday. Meloni has been politically active since she was a teenage activist
in a neo-fascist party's youth wing in Rome. In 2008, Meloni became Italy's
youngest ever minister in Silvio Berlusconi's government.
Russia launches 36 missiles at Ukraine, 15
lakh people left without electricity: Zelenskyy
Ukraine President
Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that Russia launched around 36 missiles at Ukraine
overnight. He added that most of those missiles were shot down. He further
stated that around 15 lakh people across Ukraine were left without electricity
due to Russia's attacks. October 24 will mark eight months since the war
commenced.
Pakistan Removed from FATF Grey List on Terror Financing
Pakistan has been removed from the grey list of the Financial Action Task
Force(FATF), the Paris-based global watchdog on money laundering and terrorist
financing. Pakistan was placed in the grey list in 2018 for failing to keep a
check on money laundering and terrorist financing. Besides Pakistan, Nicaragua was removed from
the FATF's 'grey list' while Democratic Republic of the Congo, Tanzania and
Mozambique were added to the list. Myanmar was added to the FATF's 'black list'. In a statement, the FATF said Pakistan made
significant progress in checking money laundering and combating financing of
terrorism. "They have (Pakistan) been removed from the grey list, however,
there's still work to be done on their part," FATF president T Raja Kumar
said.

Punjab Government: Return of Old Pension Scheme for its Employees
The Punjab Government decided to restore the old pension scheme for its
employees. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced that the government has decided
to implement the old pension scheme as a Diwali gift for its employees. The decision was taken as an in-principle
decision to the effect of the cabinet meeting. The decision aims to benefit
lakhs of employees. Finance Minister
Harpal Singh Cheema said that the employees will be given the option to join
the old pension scheme. The government
was considering restoring the scheme for government employees for a month. Restoration of the old pension scheme was
discontinued in 2004 and it has been one of the major demands of state
government employees.

Quality Council of India appoints Jaxay Shah as new chairman
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appointed Jaxay Shah, founder chairman of
Savvy Group and former chairman of CREDAI as the chairman of the Quality
Council of India (QCI) for three years, effective 21 October, the Ministry of
Commerce & Industry. He will succeed
former McKinsey India chief Adil Zainulbhai, who served as the chairman of QCI
through three terms for eight years from 2014 to 2022. QCI was established in
1997 through a Cabinet note by the Government of India. QCI is mandated to promote quality in the
country through national accreditation of testing, inspection and certification
bodies which is internationally recognised, driving third-party assessments
across sectors.

Apple will not
manufacture iPhone 14 Pro Max in India, a report said. This comes after several
reports had emerged suggesting that iPhone 14 Pro Max is being manufactured in
the country. Foxconn is assembling iPhone 14 at its Sriperumbudur facility near
Chennai. Apple manufactures iPhone11, iPhone12 and iPhone 13 in India at the
Foxconn facility.
PM Modi launches 'Rozgar Mela'; 75,000
youths get appointment letters
PM Narendra Modi on
Saturday launched 'Rozgar Mela', the recruitment drive for 10 lakh youths, via
video conferencing. Appointment letters to more than 75,000 youths were handed
over during the ceremony. "As per the PM's directions, all ministries and
departments are working towards filling up existing vacancies against
sanctioned posts in 'mission mode'," the official press release said.
RBI allows Tamilnad Mercantile Bank to open
new branches after 3 yrs
The RBI has lifted
a three-year ban on Tamilnad Mercantile Bank's branch opening with effect from
October 21, the lender said on Friday. This development comes after the
Thoothukudi-based bank's shares were listed on the stock exchanges on September
15. Currently, it has 509 branches, of which 106 are rural, 247 are semi-urban,
80 are urban and 76 are metropolitan.
India's forex reserves fall by $4.50 billion
to $528.37 billion
India's foreign
exchange reserves fell by $4.50 billion to $528.37 billion for the week ending
October 14, Reserve Bank of India data showed on Friday. The fall can be
attributed to a decline in Foreign Currency Assets, which dropped $2.83 billion
to $468.67 billion. In the previous week, the forex reserves had improved for
the first time in 10 weeks.
SEBI bars Bombay Dyeing, Wadias from
securities market, imposes ₹13.25 crore fine
Markets regulator
SEBI has barred Bombay Dyeing and its promoters Nusli N Wadia, Ness Wadia and
Jehangir Wadia from the securities market for two years for being involved in a
fraudulent scheme of misrepresenting financial statements. The regulator has
imposed a total monetary penalty of ₹13.25 crore on the company and the Wadias,
directing them to pay within 45 days.
ISRO set to launch 36 OneWeb broadband
communication satellites
The Indian Space
Research Organisation (ISRO) is all set to launch 36 broadband communication
satellites from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Andhra Pradesh's Sriharikota
on Sunday. A 43.5-metre-tall rocket is going to carry the satellites, which
will be placed in the Low Earth Orbit (LEO). The total weight of the 36 OneWeb
satellites in LEO is about 5,796 kilograms.

Insurance, backed by Bank of Baroda (BoB), filed its draft red herring
prospectus (DRHP) with SEBI for an IPO this year. The IPO will comprise a fresh
issue of ₹500 crore and an offer for sale of 14.12 crore shares. BoB has a 65%
stake in the life insurer and Union Bank of India has a 9% stake.

less than that of world: Finance Ministry
Estimating India's
medium-term growth rate above 6%, the Finance Ministry said, the country's
growth and stability concerns are less than that of the world at large. "A
long-awaited domestic investment cycle that had started will accelerate once
current external shocks – geopolitical conflicts and monetary tightening –
fade...Corporate and bank balance sheets in India are ready for it.," it
said.
ICICI Bank's Q2 profit up by 37% to ₹7,558
cr as bad loan provisions fall
ICICI Bank posted a
37% year-on-year growth in standalone profit at ₹7,557.84 crore for the
September quarter as against ₹5,511 crore in the corresponding period last year
led by a fall in bad loan provisions. Its net interest income surged to ₹14,787
crore year-on-year compared to ₹11,690 crore last year. It registered a 25%
year-on-year growth in retail loan portfolio.

Indian, US Militaries Conduct 'Tiger Triumph' Exercise
The Indian and US militaries carried out a three-day joint humanitarian
assistance exercise in Vishakhapatnam in line with the growing strategic
cooperation between the two countries. The
Tiger Triumph exercise was the second collaboration between the Indian and US
Militaries to coordinate disaster relief in the region. The first exercise took place over the course
of nine days in November 2019 and featured more than 500 US Marines and
sailors. The first exercise included
1200 Indian sailors, soldiers, and Airmen.
This year, the military exercise involved fifty combined participants,
and it focused on staff planning, with an emphasis on processes for
streamlining diplomatic, operational, and logistical coordination. Tiger Triumph marked the third time in 2022
that Indian and US militaries have worked together in Vishakhapatnam.
Nuclear capable Agni Prime missile successfully tested by India
Agni Prime missile successfully tested: The Agni Prime New Generation Ballistic
Missile was successfully tested by India on October 21 off the coast of Odisha. Around 9.45 this morning, a test launch of
the ballistic missile took place. The missile successfully completed the test,
covering its full range, and all of its test goals were achieved. This was the missile Agni Prime's third
straight successful flight test. This
test has demonstrated the system's accuracy and dependability. Agni Prime underwent its first test on June
28, 2021, and it underwent its second test on December 18, 2021.
