Assam's Kaziranga National Park reopens for
tourists
Kaziranga National
Park and Tiger Reserve in Assam, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was
reopened for tourists on October 2. The national park had been shut since May
for tourists due to flooding and rains. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and
Isha Foundation founder Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev declared the national park open
for tourists on September 22.

Apple CEO Tim Cook
in a recent interview said that soon we will be looking at life before
Augmented Reality (AR). "AR apps are already in the App Store, but the
possibilities will go much, much further," he said. Calling it "a
profound technology", Cook said that AR will soon affect everything
including teaching and medicine.
OPEC+ to consider oil output cut of over 1
million barrels per day: Reports
According to
reports, OPEC+ is mulling an oil output cut of over a million barrels per day
when it meets on October 5. OPEC+, consisting of OPEC countries and allies like
Russia, will meet in person in Vienna for the first time since March 2020. The
output cuts are being considered after the fall in global oil rates.
Chinese film 'Return to Dust' disappears
from the country's cinemas, internet
Chinese film
'Return to Dust' has been withdrawn from cinemas and streaming platforms in the
country despite earning 100 million yuan at the box office. Released in China
on July 8, the film depicts the hardships of life in rural China. "We
didn't receive an official document to block the film," a person
associated with the film's makers said.

Insolvency cases involving nearly ₹10.5 lakh
cr disposed of in 5 yrs: NCLT
National Company
Law Tribunal (NCLT) has disposed of insolvency cases amounting to nearly ₹10.5
lakh crore in last five years, said NCLT President Chief Justice (Retired)
Ramalingam Sudhakar. Of the total, 23,608 cases amounting to ₹7.21 lakh crore
have been settled before admission. Resolution plans have been approved in 565
cases, involving an amount of ₹3.03 lakh crore, Sudhakar added.
Government issues draft guidelines for
listing of regional rural banks
The Finance
Ministry issued draft guidelines to enable regional rural banks (RRBs) to raise
resources by listing on stock exchanges. According to the guidelines, RRBs
would require a net worth of at least ₹300 crore during the previous three
years. They should also possess capital adequacy above the regulatory minimum
level of 9% in each of the previous three years.
Inflation will average 5.2% next fiscal,
assuming normal rains: RBI
According to RBI's
'Monetary Policy Report September 2022', average inflation will be 5.2% in
2023-24, assuming "a normal monsoon, a progressive normalisation of supply
chains, and no further exogenous or policy shocks". The central bank is
mandated to keep retail inflation in a range of 2-6%. The RBI recently hiked
the repo rate to 5.9% to bring inflation under control.
Govt extends concessional customs duty on
edible oil import till March 2023
The Central Board
of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has extended existing concessional import
duties on specified edible oils up to March 31, 2023. The government, in its
notification, said that the move was aimed at increasing domestic supply and
keeping prices under control. The concessional customs duty on edible oil
import was also extended till March 2023.
Finance Ministry to launch special financial
inclusion drive from Oct 15
The Finance
Ministry took to Twitter to announce a special financial inclusion drive to
achieve saturation bank accounts and expansion of Kisan Credit Card coverage.
The drive will run from October 15 to November 26 and focus on mobile/Aadhaar
seeding of existing accounts with special focus on making small accounts normal
accounts by doing full KYC.
SEBI tightens disclosure norms for IPO-bound
companies
SEBI approved new
mandates including tightening of disclosure norms for IPO-bound companies. In
its board meeting, the market regulator allowed companies for confidential
pre-filing of offer documents along with relaxing open offer pricing rules for
disinvestment of public sector undertakings (PSUs). As per the new norms,
buying and selling of mutual funds falls under insider trading rules.
Windfall profit tax cut on domestic crude
oil, diesel; scrapped for jet fuel
According to a
Finance Ministry notification issued late Saturday night, the tax on
domestically produced crude oil was reduced from ₹10,500 to ₹8,000 per tonne.
The levy on the diesel export was reduced to ₹5 per litre from ₹10 per litre.
The government also scrapped the export tax on jet fuel completely. All the
changes will be effective immediately.
Jio to launch 4G-enabled laptop for ₹15,000:
Report
Reliance Jio will
be launching a laptop with an embedded 4G sim card for ₹15,000, Reuters
reported on Sunday. The company has partnered with companies like Qualcomm and
Microsoft for the 'JioBook'. The laptop will be available to enterprise
customers like schools and government institutes from this month, with a
consumer launch expected within the next three months.
TRAI to propose unified KYC system to stop
fraudulent calls: Chairman

Vaghela said TRAI is planning to set up a unified know-your-customer system,
which should be accessible by all telecom operators, to check fraudulent
callers and spammers. Speaking at India Mobile Congress, Vaghela said spammers
have started using multiple numbers and proxy servers to call people and TRAI
will use AI and machine learning to detect them.
Disappointed with the decision: Xiaomi on ED
seizing assets
Xiaomi said that
the company is "disappointed with the decision" of FEMA authority,
which approved an order of seizure of over ₹5,551 crore worth of deposits. The
company said over 84% of the ₹5,551.27 crore were royalty payments made to US
company Qualcomm. "We believe our royalty payments and statements to the
bank are all legitimate and truthful," Xiaomi said.

soil for 1st time ever, break multiple records
India defeated
South Africa by 16 runs to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match
series. It's the first time that India clinched a T20I series against South
Africa at home. India recorded their highest-ever T20I total (237/3) against
South Africa. Suryakumar Yadav became the fastest batter to reach 1,000 T20I runs
in terms of balls faced (573).

youngest-ever winner of London marathon
Ethiopia's
23-year-old Yalemzerf Yehualaw became the youngest-ever winner of the London
marathon, finishing in two hours, 17 minutes and 26 seconds. Notably, it's the
third fastest women's London Marathon time in history. Yehualaw, who tripped
during the run, said she's happy to win in London. Kenya's Amos Kipruto won the
men's race in two hours, four minutes and 39 seconds.

The Indian Air
Force (IAF) will formally induct the first batch of the made-in-India Light
Combat Helicopters (LCH) on Monday. The helicopters are primarily designed for
deployment in high-altitude regions and have stealth features, armour
protection, night attack capability and crash-worthy landing gear for better
survivability. They can operate at an altitude of up to 5,000 metres with
weapons.

Shri Tulsi Tanti one of the foremost
believers in Aatmanirbharta: Adani
Chairman of Adani
Group, Gautam Adani took to Twitter to condole the death of Founder and
Chairman of Suzlon Energy, Tulsi Tanti. Calling him one of the foremost
believers in Aatmanirbharta, Adani called Tanti a "gifted visionary who
proved that India could be a global player in the wind energy space."
Tulsi Tanti passed away due to cardiac arrest.
